Who we are

Senior engineering judgement, from reservoir to boardroom.

Petroxin Ltd is a London-based engineering and management consultancy delivering solutions to the oil and gas, renewable energy and disruptive technology sectors since 2013.

We work at the interface of the reservoir and the boardroom: the same team that builds the simulation model also builds the economics, sits in the partner meeting and writes the board paper. That is why our clients range from operators and energy services companies to speciality chemicals manufacturers and investors screening upstream opportunities.

Digital efficiency — and, increasingly, AI-assisted engineering workflows — lets us deliver senior-level work at a lean cost base without compromising on quality.

02Field development benchmarkingFlagshipFor operators, NOCs and investors who want to know where the hidden value is

Together with a leading benchmarking company as our partner, we compare a field or a whole portfolio against the world's best analogue fields — recovery factor, well productivity, plateau length, capex and opex per barrel, and cycle time.

The output is not a report about the past: it is a ranked list of interventions with the value and the risk of each, and a phased, executable option already sized to the volumes identified.

  • Recovery-factor and well-productivity gap analysis against global analogues
  • FDP and concept audits: is the selected development the best one for this reservoir?
  • Production ramp-up studies — capacity, gas handling, GOR trends and plateau extension for assets no longer bound by a quota
  • Mature-asset diagnostics: infill, workover and IOR candidates ranked by value
  • Cost, schedule and cycle-time benchmarking of development projects
  • Independent second opinion for boards, partners and lenders

Research & development

Research that feeds the consultancy.

Our R&D is pointed at the same problems our clients bring us: how to evaluate fractured wells honestly, how to keep people safe in the field, and what to do with an oilfield when the oil runs out.

Reservoir model showing hydraulic fractures across five zones connecting to open natural fractures

Integrated evaluation of hydraulic fracturing

A holistic workflow for fractured wells in heterogeneous reservoirs: the Heterogeneity Impact Factor (HIF) quantifies how reservoir heterogeneity affects fracture performance; the DCH technique forecasts fractured-well production quickly and cheaply; and the Risk of Commercial Failure (RCF) analysis turns both into an economic decision.

Organic Rankine Cycle schematic for geothermal power from an oilfield

Geothermal conversion of oilfields

Converting mature oilfields and offshore platforms into geothermal generators using co-produced water. Worked example: 500,000 barrels of water a day at 80 → 50 °C yields about 115 MW thermal — roughly 4.6 MW electrical through an Organic Rankine Cycle, or 40 GWh a year. Current work targets supercritical ORC, cascade use of heat and reinjection optimisation.
